576. How to Destroy Self-Doubt
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
Austin connects a Michael Jackson detail to self-doubt: while making Thriller, Jackson hated his first version, broke down in front of the room, and forced a full remix, with Billie Jean alone taking 91 takes. Austin pairs that with Kobe Bryant's 2002-2004 stretch of allegations and losing, where doubt was answered by building the Black Mamba persona rather than suppressed. His point: doubt isn't a malfunction to fix, it's the pressure that keeps you working, and the way elite performers manage it is through extreme preparation, not confidence. He closes with an exercise: name one to three recurring self-doubts and pick a concrete action that would prove each one wrong.
